COVID-19: House of Assembly shuts down as lawmakers, workers test positive

 - Plenary and other activities at the Anambra state House of Assembly       has been shut down. 

- The complex was closed following news of the coronavirus status of         some lawmakers and workers.

 - The assembly has been shut for three weeks after it was discovered        that members of the House contracted the deadly virus. 

Amid news of the COVID-19 status of some members of the Anambra state House of Assembly, the complex was on Wednesday, January 27, shut down. 

In a report by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the assembly will remain closed for three weeks after some lawmakers and workers tested positive for COVID-19.

Following this development, Uche Okafor, the speaker during an emergency plenary adjourned the House after a resolution for a break Okafor went on to note that the closure would allow the ministry of health to do contact tracing of those found to be positive.

 FG warns Nigerians about lockdown Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that if Nigerians are not careful there can be another lockdown. 

This was disclosed by the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19. According to the National Incident Manager of the PTF, Dr. Mukhtar Muhammad, though the government would be reluctant in taking such a decision, it will, however, take it if circumstances warrant it. He, however, said the PTF was working with governors on achieving successful enforcement of already issued guidelines and protocols across the country. Civil servants to work from home In a related development, the federal government has directed all the civil workers on grade level 12 and below to continue working from home. 

The directive was given on Tuesday, January 26, in a circular by Folashade Esan, head of civil service.
